Carnival of Healing #6: Healing the Heart

In these last few days of media overwhelm on the flooding of New Orleans and other Gulf coast areas, so many of us are feeling loss, fear, grief, anger and resignation. Our emotional body goes to overwhelm, and often we just close up, burying ourselves in something mindless by turning off our feeling states.

With all of the messages of the media, it is important to realize that we can have a clearness of heart/mind, so that our actions are empowering for us, as well as others.

Any sort of regular spiritual practice is helpful during this time. Amitola a healer from Australia, has a great series of articles on her blog Angel Development on meditation. The article series shows how meditation helps to heal all of the energy bodies: mental, physical, spiritual and emotional.

In the Home Spa Lady Blog there is an article on How to Heal the Heart at Home describing a simple practice of how to support and help heal the heart of grief, sadness and loss.

Learning the techniques of self healing empowers us. Sometimes this can seem complicated. The Institute for Integrative Healthcare Studies offer an excellent guide to Ten Highly Effective Acupressure Points.

Love is a state of being. Your love is not outside; it is deep within you. You can never lose it, and it can never leave you. It is not dependent on some other body, some external form". ~ Eckhardt Tolle

How can we live a life centered in Love, asks Women in the Lead blog: in their post Love is a State of Being.

The gathering tide:

As Saturday Sept 3, is the new moon, I feel that some awareness of the process and energies of this new moon, would be helpful. A new moon is a time to clarify our intentions for the month, and to take action to make those intentions come forth. The period from the new moon to the full moon each month is an especially powerful time to take action towards our intentions, goals, and dreams,

Molly, at Quintessential Sophism has a written a New Moon Meditation for this month.

Music for the Soul:

SDG. J.S. Bach put those initials at the end of his musical compositions. They were shorthand for "Soli Deo Gloria" --- to God alone the glory.

Music bypasses our mental body and speaks directly to our emotional body. This is why it is so powerful. It is not just notes on paper. It is the sound within the sound, and the space between the notes.

The composer Hildegard of Bingen (1098-1179) knew this. She was a healer, seer, poet and composer. Her music is luminous, and holds the sound within the sound. The blog, Head Butler, reviews The Origin of Fire: Music and Visions of Hildegard von Bingen.

“Scared Sacred” is an important new documentary film that explores the concept of bringing light into darkness, releasing hatred and grief then replacing it with compassion. At Brigid’s Flame, it’s festival time again with a review of Scared Sacred.

Healing your self-abusive self-judgment,and your resulting self-deprivation,will help you heal others personallyas well as bring that healingthrough the collective unconscious of humanityto spread all over the earth.” ~ Barbara Brennan

This is happening now in cultures all over the earth as humanity arises and recognizes its greater individuality. When looking at the world I see a world of mystery, a mystery that heals.

Poet William York at The Path of No Path has some beautiful prose poetry that speaks strongly to the heart/mind. One selection: Fires in the night sky.

Our feelings thoughts and words combine to create our reality. When we believe it, we see it. Spirit trusts us as we create our own experience in the world. We have all the tools, and we can always start new to create our intentions in life. Work is Love made manifest. To quote Eileen Caddy, “Life is full and overflowing with new.”

From Unity Church, this prayer is offered to hold those in the damaged areas:

We affirm peace, protection, healing, and divine order. The love of God comforts and soothes you. The light of God guides you and keeps you safe. The life of God heals and renews you. The power of God works through you to restore order and rebuild your life. You are sustained in body, mind, and spirit by the ever-renewing presence of God.
